Bob and Gui are back

October 3rd, 2009 Gui 9 comments

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Bob and Gui joined congress for an August-September recess.

Consider us back and ready to stand up for America again and again.

Last time we blogged, the president’s approval rating was in the mid 50s, it is now under 50%.  We would like to take partial credit for opening the eyes of many Americans.

Rush Limbaugh (whether you love him or hate him, as Jay Leno said) got a loud standing ovation at an NBC studio (can you believe it?) for his criticism of the government take over of the private sector, one industry at a time.

Join us in a loud standing ovation as we stand up for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

BTW, Congratulations to the Dodgers for winning the NL West title yet again!

We are back.

The likely goal of the Democratic Party

August 25th, 2009 Gui 135 comments

Ladies and Gentlement,

The goal of the left with a seat in Congress… the nationalization of every industry in the private sector. Nationalization is not a word that Congresswoman Waters (D, CA) is familiar with. With a Freudian slip, she calls it “socializing” the industry, but after biting her tongue to avoid using the S word and trying to reach for the synonym that doesn’t make her party sound as Marxist as it really is, she has some trouble. Take a listen…

Quick Thought

August 12th, 2009 Gui 651 comments

I heard an excellent quote yesterday in a letter to Bill O’Reilly from a viewer:

When liberals or “progressives” protest, they are labeled as “grassroots community organizers” by the mainstream media. When conservatives protest, they are labeled as a mob, nazzis, brown shirts & compared to Timothy McVeigh.

The biggest mistake that this Administration and the state run media have made is to alienate legitimate concerned American constituents by labeling them. It will cost the Dems many congressional & senate seats in 2010.

President Obama: USPS is Always Having Problems.

August 12th, 2009 Gui 130 comments

Mr. President, it seems as if your argument about a government run program “always having problems” would lead us to believe that your single payer government run health care system alternative would always be having problems as well.

One little difference is that the USPS started before FedEx and UPS. The private sector created a solution to a government run “problem” as you so eloquently put it… not the other way around.

Clunkerers for Crackpot Economics

August 7th, 2009 Bob 147 comments

While I was away, real change has been delivered to America.  This time in the form of Cash for Clunkers- an “economic policy” that the WSJ calls “crackpot economics.” The problem with this program, well, is that it is a program.

For those unfamiliar, the Cash for Clunkers program allows owners of cars that get less than 18 gallons to a mile, get a voucher up to $4,500 to purchase a more fuel efficient car.  The idea is to both improve fuel efficiency and stimulate car sales in the short run.  At least that’s what the majorly left wing backers of the bill will tell you.  The real reason is to create more voters who become dependent on the government and give back to the powerful big-auto lobbyists.

The program does have a few positive externalities.  It increases the fuel efficiency among the lucky few who took advantage of the program.  However, as usually the government found a way to screw it up.  More than 70% of the appropriated $1,000,000,000 was used within one week, only to see congress quickly appropriate 2,000,000,000 more to the program.   While acting surprised that people actually will take advantage of a free (ride to) lunch, the government had no problem quickly writing a check of your (taxpayer) money. When Healthcare Isn’t Treated As Healthcare

July 27th, 2009 Admin 13,784 comments

Earlier today House Judiciary Chairman (keep this in mind, not a Junior Representative) John Conyers (D-Michigan) clearly illustrated not only the KEY problem with Obama’s healthcare initiative, but with the driving force behind most American’s inherent distrust of politicians.

On the healthcare bill before Congress:

“I love these members, they get up and say, ‘Read the bill,’” said Conyers.

“What good is reading the bill if it’s a thousand pages and you don’t have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill?”

So one of the key Senior members of our Democratic controlled Congress, FREELY admits to not reading the MASSIVE overhaul planned for our healthcare system. Well, that’s fantastic. On the one hand it’s nice to see a Democratic Representative actually telling the truth (I’ll take him at his word that he cannot read a thousand pages without someone else’s help). Of course, the flipside of that coin- HOW CAN YOU VOTE ON SOMETHING YOU HAVE NOT READ? Read more…

Should California Move to a Part Time Legislature?

July 21st, 2009 Admin 24 comments

The framers of the Constitution never envisioned a country where one’s occupation could be as a career politician.  Our forefathers were farmers, blacksmiths, carpenters and other producers of goods and services who kept their trades while holding elected office.  But in today’s world, people of all political views make careers out of being a politician.  This leads to a severe disconnect with the citizens they are supposed to represent.  Living inside the bubble of government for an extended period leads to a sense of disillusionment and narcissism which is all too prevalent in our modern political culture.  Never has this been more apparent than right now in my home state of California.  The state has bankrupted itself (although the legislature refuses to file for it) with bloated programs, ridiculous government worker pensions, and some of the highest taxes in the nation. Too Much to Handle, Prince Harry?

July 17th, 2009 Gui 140 comments

Senators that love burning your taxpayer dollars do not like to listen to the Congressional Budget Office (”CBO”) about the price tag of the pieces of legislation that their radical Democrat colleagues are trying to fly through Congress, especially recently. According to CBO, the current Senate health care “reform” bill exceeds a price tag of One Trillion dollars.

Today on the Senate floor, Senate Majority leader Harry Reid (D, Nevada) wasn’t so happy with the unbiased research from Doug Elmendorf, the head of the NON PARTISAN Congressional Budget Office (CBO), that he actually grilled him with a weapon that is used typically as a last resort – sarcasm.

According to the Wall Street Journal:

Mr. Reid expressed disdain when asked by reporters about Mr. Elmendorf’s suggestion. “What he should do is maybe run for Congress,” the Nevada Democrat said.”

Too much to handle Senator? Maybe Mr. Elmendorf should take your place after you step down.

Obama Admits the Tax Increase of Cap And Trade

July 15th, 2009 Gui 295 comments

Folks,

You didn’t hear it from Sean Hannity, Dick Morris, Glenn Beck nor Newt Gingrich. You heard it from the lips of President Obama…

Under his Cap and Trade plan, “electricty rates would necessarily skyrocket” and that “whatever the industry is… they would have to pass that money to the consumer”

Take a listen…

This is an unnecessary tax hike for all Americans during a recession and not to mention a broken campaign promise.

Obamas Words do not Match Reality

July 14th, 2009 Bob 6 comments

In the lead up to the 2008 Presidential election, I had a McCain bumper sticker on my car.  Needless to say it sparked a number of conversations, many times with complete strangers.  At the time, I was a delivery driver working in Santa Monica and Venice Beach, two of the more whacky liberal enclaves in America.  To give an example, a $12 haircut costs $20 in Santa Monica because of all the taxes (oh how big government liberalism helps the poor… maybe that’s why they all grow their hair out).

I was constantly asked: “how can you support a Republican when a Republican got us in this economic crisis?  We need a Democrat to solve this mess.”

I always responded the same way.  “The government doesn’t control the economy, if they did, we would live in a Fascist state.  Second, if you were to blame the government, you would blame congress, who has the power of the purse according to Article II of the Constitution.  The Democrats have controlled congress since 2006.”  Read more…
